Obama, Race, and Hope: Some High Schoolers Speak Out

One of many reasons I personally am drawn to Barack Obama is how he affects those younger than I am. I often forget I am fifty years old. I still feel young, full of hope, even if hope is seasoned with sorrow. The Obama folks recently posted the below discussion among some Bronx high school students, which says better than I can why there's just something different about Barack Obama. It's a little long, and maybe a little naive in spots. But the "thoughts of youth are long, long thoughts" said Longfellow, and "dreams that cannot die." In the end, these thoughts touch on the deep things for all of us, young and not so young.
